Optometrist
Optometrists are independent primary eye care providers who examine, diagnose, diseases and disorders of the visual system & associated structures Optometrists prescribe / provide eye glasses, contact lenses, low vision aids, vision therapy.
The College of optometry is well equipped for training in terms of equipments, practical training by specialists and highly qualified members of the faculty.

- Diploma Optometry[D OPT] - Diploma 2 years
- Bachelor Optometry[B OPT] - Degree 3 years
Eligibility Criteria
- 10+2 passed in any stream from a recognized board.
Career Prospects and Opportunities
- After completion of the course the Optometrists have scope of appointment in Private / Government eye hospitals or vision centers or Optical Units /shops. They can star their own optical shop. Banks readily offer loans to start self employment.
- In 2010 it was estimated that India needs 115,000 optometrists; whereas India has approximately 49000 optometrists In order to prevent blindness or visual impairment more well trained optometrists are required in India.
